The Development Infrastructure department specialises in providing high-level advice and design to public and private sector clients on planning and design issues related to Highways, Drainage, Flood Protection, Earthworks, and Service Co-ordination on Public Sector works, Residential Developments, Business Parks, Retail, Industrial, and Commercial Developments.
We are seeking enthusiastic Development Infrastructure engineers of all levels to support our UK-wide team. The role involves:
- Collaborating within a team to produce designs and drawings for construction projects and deliver technical reports for masterplanning and planning applications. You will work on multiple projects and client accounts, reporting to an Associate Director.
- Designing as a civil engineer to support planning applications and construction.
- Engaging with clients at local and national levels across various projects.
- Mentoring and managing early-career professionals, ensuring technical excellence.
- Supporting project management activities in delivering concept studies and strategies, leading to planning applications or construction drawings.
What we will be looking for in you
- A civil engineering degree, nearing Chartered status, with experience in highway and highway drainage design.
- Postgraduate experience in a civil engineering environment.
- Proven ability to produce masterplans, site appraisals, reports for planning applications, design calculations, and drawings.
- Knowledge of highway design, highway drainage principles, surface water, and foul drainage designs.
- Experience with Windes drainage software, PDS or Civils 3D, and familiarity with Highways England and Local Authority design guidance.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues across different levels, producing designs, drawings, and reports.
- Knowledge of relevant design codes such as DMRB, Local Authority Highway and Water Authority Design Guides, and experience with S38, S278, and S106 agreements.
- A background in consultancy or development sectors, balancing private and public sector work.
- Proven experience in leading design efforts for concept studies and strategies, supporting planning and construction.
- Interest and experience in mentoring junior team members in design production.
