Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Established in 1997 as the firstmanufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry, Taiko hasevolved into the most innovative manufacturer of Sushi, Food To Go,Prepared Meals and Snacking products in the UK, supplying Waitrose,Tesco and Sainsbury's to name a few. Over the past 25 years Taikohas launched more first to market Sushi and Food to Go productsthan any other sushi manufacturer in the UK.

Therole of the Specification Technologist is to ensure legalcompliance and safety of products and packaging through thepreparation, maintenance and management of specifications for rawmaterials, finished products and packaging materials, productlabels and other printed packaging, artwork, and all relateddocuments.

The Role of SpecificationsTechnologist reports to the SpecificationManager.

  • You'll have a strong customerfocus with the ability to communicate with customers on a routinebasis
  • You'll have the ability to work within ateam and with other departments, demonstrate a flexible approach towork and manage time-critical assignments that involve varyingdegrees of complexity
  • You'll need good Englishcomprehension, good written and spoken English and be able tounderstand and interpret regulations and produce work that isaccurate and concise.
  • Attention to detail andaccuracy of documents is a crucial pre-requisite to be successfulin the role
  • The role requires good computerskills and working knowledge of customer website management. Inparticular Waitrose PrincipalResponsibilities
  • Tocreate, manage and maintain the specifications for each and everyproduct produced by Taiko Foods.
  • To source,manage and maintain the specifications for each and everyingredient, raw material, and item of packaging used by TaikoFoods. Ensure the accuracy and legality of alldocuments.
  • To manage customer specific websitesand database; advise the business of policy document updates andsummarise for distribution within the business, customerquestionnaires as required.
  • To facilitate thecreation and project management of packaging artwork and label copyfor new products and changes to existing products. Ensure thelegality and accuracy of information as part of the sign offprocedure.
  • To manage the approved labeldatabase and upload data as required that supports the finishedproduct labelling operation.
  • To liaise with theNPD technologist in order to ensure all NPD projects are completedsuccessfully.
  • To conduct the supplier riskassessment and approval process and maintain approved supplierregisters. Ensuring that all information is accurate, up to dateand appropriate to enable management of the risk posed by eachsupplier.
  • To conduct ingredients and packagingrisk assessments and approval process and maintain the approvedingredient and packaging registers.
  • Activelysupport the allergen management system and contribute to the HACCPmanagement system as required To ensure processes, procedures andrisk assessments are managed and maintained in compliance with BRCrequirements.
  • To ensure suppliers' traceabilityis carried out annually for existing sea food, meat and packagingsuppliers.
