Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology

We have been assigned by one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts to assist in recruiting a Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology for a 12-month fixed-term or substantive position to join their successful Ophthalmology department.
Department OverviewThe department currently offers comprehensive general ophthalmology services, including a well-established Macular unit treating Maculopathy (AMD and Non-AMD), retina services, glaucoma, cornea, and oculoplastics. The hospital provides a range of services such as Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. Additional facilities include an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions, outpatient clinics, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgeries. Community outreach services and diagnostics are also available.
Role Responsibilities- Providing outpatient clinics, including urgent referrals
- Preparing patients for elective and emergency theatre sessions
- Managing routine and emergency admissions
- Participating in the on-call rota and providing cover as needed
- Attending weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
- Engaging in continuing medical education and clinical audits
- Applying evidence-based practice where appropriate
