We are looking to appoint a new Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; this is a substantive post. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs), with 2.04 additional on-call PAs bringing the total to 12.04.
The role is based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, with close proximity to London and Cambridge.
Main duties of the job- Provide on-call obstetrics and gynaecology rota care, including safe care of labouring women on the labour ward.
- Attend gynaecology theatre sessions.
- Offer specialist gynaecological clinics.
- Participate in obstetrics and gynaecology emergency care.
- Contribute to the department's teaching, audit and educational activities.
- Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice.
- MRCOG or an equivalent qualification.
- Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent part-time) with at least two years in a specialty training programme or as a fixed-term specialty trainee.
- Experience and broad involvement in obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full independent diagnostic opinion.
- Demonstrated leadership on patient safety issues and practice change.
- Understanding of core research principles, methodology and ethics.
- Understanding of audit, evidence-based practice and clinical quality improvement.
- Engagement with clinical governance, error identification and learning.
- Engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
- Situational awareness and sound decision making.
- Effective teaching of clinical skills.
- Basic principles of audit, evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GMC standards of Good Medical Practice.
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to the specialty.
- Experience with equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, supporting a culture of equality and diversity.
- Role-model Trust values daily.
- Understanding and demonstration of NHS Constitution values.
- Evidence of being fit to practice safely and awareness of personal training needs.
