Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities of the post holder

  • On duty, have clinical and professional responsibility for their patients.
  • Keep patients (and/or their carers as appropriate) informed about their condition.
  • Involve patients and/or their carers, where appropriate, in decision making about their treatment.
  • Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council, including compliance with the GMC guidance on Good Medical Practice.
  • Carry out work related to and incidental to duties in the Job Description, such as: keeping records and providing reports; proper delegation of tasks; maintaining skills and knowledge.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

To provide medical care to patients as required, ensuring standards of care are delivered through a multidisciplinary team and a Hospital at Night team. Maintain patient confidentiality and secure access to information systems. Ensure a safe environment for patients and colleagues. Maintain accurate records of care and communicate information appropriately to other professionals. Attend the full range of clinical delivery settings (EPAGU, OPD, Labour ward, Theatres, Wards, etc.).

Person Specification Professional Experience
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology for 3-4 years
  • Qualified to undertake on-call work on the SPR Tier in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Up to date in emergency obstetric procedures
Academic achievements
  • MRCOG Part I
  • Working towards MRCOG Part 2 or 3
  • An interest in medical education and excellent teaching skills, including the ability to explain clinical concepts to medical students
