Specialty Doctor in Adult Mental Health - EIPThe closing date is 24 March 2026
This is a newly created post in Tees EIP. Tees EIP is based across four locations,Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar. The Team provides secondarymental health service input for people experiencing first episode psychosisfrom age 14 years and above. The team receives referrals direct from GPsurgeries via the hub teams and other sources such as Crisis team/ LiaisonPsychiatry/ wards.
The team provides specialist support to patients who maybeexperiencing their first episode of psychosis or at risk of developing a firstepisode of psychosis. The teams can also assess for Autism internally and withsupport from the specialist Autism teams within the trust. Our crisis teams manage the access toinpatient services with support from the intensive home treatment services. The post holder will join a dedicatedmultidisciplinary team and contribute to compassionate and evidence-basedpatient care and service improvement.
The post holder will over four EIP teams across Tees,Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar.
The Specialty Doctor will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical expertise for both new and ongoing cases particularly issues around psychopharmacology, diagnosis, risk assessments including liaison with the local GPs and inpatient units.
The post holder is not expected to carry a personalcaseload (ie will not be a care coordinator), the work will be done inconjunction with other team members.

Person Specification Teaching & Training- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
- Participated in continuous professional development.
- Evidence of annual appraisal and commitment to appraisal and revalidation.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad
- Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment.
- MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Good knowledge of psychiatry.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Has actively participated in clinical audit.
- Shows commitment to quality through knowledge of quality improvement and lean thinking methodology.
- Participated in research and/or service improvement.
