Specialty Doctor GIM OutliersThe closing date is 10 November 2025
We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor with a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in acute and/or general internal medicine to join our teams in delivering high-quality senior level care to acutely unwell patients in our outlier areas.
Weekly timetable will be discussed and agreed with the appointee and will incorporate:
- Outlier ward rounds
- Specialty work (option of Acute, Infectious Diseases, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Older Persons Medicine, Respiratory and Emergency Medicine)
- Diagnosis and Treatment
They are responsible for carrying out investigations, making diagnoses, and implementing treatment plans, including preparing discharge summaries.
- Communication
They communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining appropriate records and reports.
Service and Professional Activities:
- Service Delivery
They contribute to service delivery and improvement, including attending multidisciplinary meetings and participating in audit activities.
About usThis new post arises from an exciting investment in the transformation of medicine and emergency care services (MECS) at The James Cook University Hospital. The MECS collaborative is made up of Acute, Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, Older Persons Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology and Emergency medicine specialties. We have 9 In Patient wards and additional beds across outlier areas.

Person Specification Qualifications- MRCP and GMC registration
- Minimum 4 years of post graduate experiences
- Minimum 4 years in general / acute medicine
- Minimum 2 years' experience as Tier 2 medical registrar level in the UK
- An appropriate higher qualification
- Specialty certificate
- Wide range of experience in general medicine at ST3 level
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to ST3
- Ability to take responsibility for clinical care of patients and lead resident staff members
- Evidence of research or innovative service developments
- Sub specialty experience
- Sub specialty experience
- Minimum 4 years of post-graduated experiences
- Minimum 2 years' experience as Tier 2 (medical registrar) level in UK
- Ability to perform medical procedures expected at completion of CMT2
