Job Description
Specialist Midwife - Safeguarding

The closing date is 05 February 2026.

The MFT Corporate Safeguarding Team are looking for a registered midwife to join a fast paced and dynamic workplace. This busy, successful team is ideally located within the antenatal clinic at St Mary's Maternity Hospital, Oxford Road Campus. With friendly support and mentoring you will build on your safeguarding knowledge to work with mothers, families and agencies, ensuring that the thousands of babies born at St Mary's are effectively safeguarded. You will develop close working relationships with Safeguarding Midwives at other hospital sites within MFT and across Greater Manchester, develop training skills, and participate in the delivery of Level 3 Safeguarding Training in collaboration with the wider trust safeguarding team. You may occasionally be asked to be based at another hospital site. You will be fully supported to develop into the role; whilst previous experience working with a safeguarding team would be desirable, it is not essential.

If you are interested in applying, we welcome a visit or phone call to discuss the role further and answer any questions you may have.

The job on offer is permanent, but we could also offer a fixed term contract or a secondment depending on the successful applicant's circumstances.

  • Support St Mary's staff to fulfil their safeguarding duties and give practical support to St Mary's when necessary to ensure that there are no gaps in the provision.
