We are seeking four experienced and motivated Specialist Clinical Coders to join our expanding and dynamic Clinical Coding Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK's most respected healthcare organisations, supporting accurate, high-quality coded data that directly impacts funding, service planning, audit and research.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Clinical Coder, you will:

  • accurately abstract, analyse, and assign complex diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications
  • work closely with clinical teams to validate and enhance the quality of coded data
  • take the lead on specific specialties and complex coding scenarios
  • act as a mentor to junior coders and support their development
  • contribute to clinical engagement, KPI monitoring, audit preparation and data quality improvement.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)
  • ECDL
Experience
  • Substantial Clinical Coding expertise across all specialties and levels of complexity
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Skills
  • Ability to analyse and abstract complex records
  • Ability to resolve complex coding issues and aptly articulate resolutions to other.
  • Able to identify data quality issues and coding workflow impediments and use sound intuition to resolve.
