Job Description

The Hearing and Balance Service at LeedsTeaching Hospitals is looking for an enthusiastic Audiologists to join theAdult Rehabilitation and Diagnostics team. You will have a BSc in Audiologyor BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) or equivalent, and be registered, or inthe process of registering, with HCPC/RCCP/AHCS. Basedin a newly developed department at Seacroft Hospital just outside Leeds CityCentre the Hearing and Balance Service provides modern facilities and acomprehensive range of services, across multiple sites for patients of allages including implantable devices and vestibular assessments. Due to therange of services provided, opportunities exist for training and developmentinto specialist areas and staff can be supported through the Higher TrainingScheme.

Main duties of the job

Asa B6 Specialist Audiologist you will carry out detailed hearing assessmentsand offer personalised rehabilitation within the adult service. The roleinvolves fitting and optimising hearing aids, supporting patients withcommunication needs, and contributing to specialist clinics such as tinnitus,advance care clinics or Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) assessment andfittings. You will work independently with complex cases, provide clearguidance to patients and families and help develop audiology services. Youwill play a key role in leading junior members of the team offering supportand training to help them deliver safe, effective audiology care and growwithin the department.

Job responsibilities

As a B6 Specialist Audiologist you will carryout detailed hearing assessments and offer personalised rehabilitation withinthe adult service.

Person Specification Experience
  • Significant post-qualification experience in Adult Audiology at B5 or equivalent
  • Experience in managing own clinical caseload independently
  • Experience contributing to specialist clinics (e.g, Tinnitus, balance, complex needs)
Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc in Audiology or equivalent recognised qualification
  • HCPC or AHCS Registration
  • Relevant qualification/s relating to senior audiology role and/or leadership
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service
  • Competence in clinical and non-clinical IT systems
Skills & behaviours
  • Competency in Adult Diagnostic Audiology
  • Competency in Hearing Aid Fitting
  • Ability to deliver patient-centred rehabilitation and counselling
  • Experience working with complex adult cases
