This is a dynamic role requiring excellent communication, leadership, and problem solving skills. You will need frontline ambulance service experience, accredited training and teaching qualifications, and knowledge of SORT and emergency preparedness.
Job responsibilities- Deliver specialist education, including SORT and Command training, to EMAS clinical staff.
- Support design and delivery of multi agency training and exercises to national standards.
- Contribute to policy development and ensure compliance with national guidance.
- Collaborate with Police, Fire, Military, NHS bodies, and other responders.
- Assist in maintaining specialist incident support equipment and vehicles.
- Capture lessons learned from exercises and incidents to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide CBRN training to acute trusts and other healthcare partners.
- Organise and run multi agency local and regional MTA and CBRN exercises.
- Perform audits, write policies and procedures, and produce reports.
- Deliver training primarily during office hours, with occasional evening or weekend sessions by agreement.
- Operate from the Operational Support Unit in Mansfield, with potential delivery at other venues across the region.
- Accredited educational/training qualification evidence and recent teaching experience.
- Frontline Ambulance Service Operational Qualification (e.g., ASC/ECA/Tech/Paramedic).
- Proven knowledge of the SORT role, capabilities and training.
- Experience training SORT operatives.
- Experience of preparing lesson plans and content for lessons.
- Experience of presenting to multi disciplinary audiences.
- Example of recent project or course delivery.
- IT competent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital tools.
All SORT operatives must complete a nationally standardised Physical Competency Assessment (PCA) before appointment to this role.
