Course Dates: Monday 27 July 2026 - Friday 28 August 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
About the role
We are offering an opportunity to join Kent Police as a special constable through our dedicated 5-week intensive training course. Special constables are volunteer police officers and play a vital role in keeping our communities safe, providing essential frontline policing alongside regular officers.
This intensive programme is designed for individuals who are motivated, committed, and able to learn at pace. It is particularly suited to those who have recent experience of structured learning, although it remains open to all applicants.
Upon successful completion of training, you will have full policing powers and will volunteer as part of a local policing team across Kent.
Course information
Due to the intensive nature of the programme, there is very limited flexibility for students to change or miss planned training dates. Exceptions will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
The course requires commitment and the ability to absorb information quickly.
Following attestation, all special constables are expected to engage in ongoing training such as personal safety training (PST), portfolio development and continuing professional development (CPD).

Accredited police training
Experience working directly within local policing
