Sous Chef

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to join our busy hotel kitchen team.

This is a varied and hands-on role within a fast-paced hotel environment, catering for hotel residents, restaurant guests, weddings, conferences, functions and special events.

Working closely with the Head Chef, the successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and service.

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day management and organisation of the kitchen.
Lead and support the kitchen team during busy services.
Prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard.
Ensure dishes are presented correctly and delivered efficiently during service.
Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control and presentation.
Assist with the preparation and delivery of food for restaurant service, weddings, conferences and functions.
Ensure all food hygiene, health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic working environment.
Assist with stock control and ensure food waste is kept to a minimum.
Support the cleaning and organisation of the kitchen, storage areas and equipment.
Carry out any reasonable duties required to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will:

Have previous experience working within a busy hotel, restaurant or similar professional kitchen environment .
Have previous experience at Sous Chef level or be an experienced Chef de Partie ready to progress.
Be fully qualified in catering.
Hold a recognised Basic Food Hygiene/Food Safety Certificate.
Have a strong passion for food and maintaining high standards.
Be confident working in a fast-paced environment.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Have strong organisational and planning skills.
Be able to work efficiently under pressure.
Be confident supervising and leading members of the kitchen team.
Be able to work effectively both as part of a team and on their own initiative.
Have a good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety requirements.
Be reliable, professional and flexible.

Working Hours

This position involves working within a hotel environment and therefore applicants must be fully flexible to work a varied shift pattern , including evenings, weekends and busy function periods.

Previous professional kitchen experience is essential.

Salary is negotiable and will be dependent on experience.
