Sous Chef

Overview

Berkeley Scott is recruiting a Sous Chef for a 4-star hotel in Glasgow. This permanent, full-time position offers a 40-hour working week with service charge and benefits including discounted rooms, food and leisure, plus complimentary meals on duty.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the executive chef, managing kitchen operations, upholding impeccable presentation, and maintaining rigorous hygiene and safety standards.
• Oversee food preparation and stock control to ensure consistent quality across all service periods.
• Assist in training and developing new kitchen team members, providing guidance and feedback to enhance skills.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and execute menus that meet high standards of quality and culinary excellence.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and served according to recipes and portioning guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef in cost control and budget management, making recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

• Proven track record in busy kitchens with the ability to inspire and uplift a team to exceed guest expectations.
• Experience working closely with an executive chef and managing all aspects of kitchen operations.
• Demonstrated commitment to high standards of hygiene, safety, and presentation.
