Solutions Architecture & Engineering Lead

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Solutions Architect & Engineering Lead to join our Technology & Infrastructure Department. This role combines strong engineering expertise with architectural leadership, acting as the technical authority for high impact initiatives while guiding solution design, engineering practices, and the evolution of the bank's digital platforms.

The selected candidate will lead a team of Full Stack Developers, define architectural direction, and ensure solutions are built with strong engineering discipline, security, and operational resilience.

Main Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Authority

• Act as the technical authority for complex, high impact initiatives, providing architectural direction, hands on guidance, and code level support when required.
• Take ownership of critical architectural decisions end to end - from design to production, including incident analysis and long term remediation.
• Define and evolve the target architecture, including system architecture, integration patterns, technology standards, and platform evolution strategies.
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that integrate effectively with internal systems and third party platforms.
• Lead architectural decision making based on business priorities, engineering standards, technical trade offs, and long term maintainability.

Engineering Leadership

• Lead and manage a team of Full Stack Developers, ensuring predictable, high quality delivery.
• Promote a builder mindset, balancing strategic architectural leadership with hands on engineering and problem resolution.
• Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including coding standards, testing approaches, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development processes.
• Drive automation opportunities to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable architectures and engineering plans.
• Ensure compliance with security best practices, regulatory requirements, resilience standards, and data protection policies.
• Mentor and support team members' technical development and career growth.

Academic Background

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in software engineering, with exposure to solution architecture or technical leadership roles.
• Experience delivering enterprise grade systems or digital platforms.
• Certifications in cloud, architecture, or engineering frameworks (e.g., AWS, Azure, TOGAF, PMP, ITIL) are a plus.

Relevant Skills

• Strong knowledge of software architecture and distributed systems design.
• Experience with API driven architectures, microservices, integration layers, or event driven systems.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript (React, Angular), .NET, or Java.
• Understanding of secure web application practices: OAuth2, JWT, OWASP.
• Experience with Next.js, React, or React Native (considered a differentiator).
• Solid understanding of the SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps collaboration.
• Experience working with systems requiring strong NFRs (performance, scalability, resilience, security).
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or operating mission critical systems in regulated environments (e.g., banking, payments, financial services).
• Familiarity with core banking systems, payment platforms, or large integration ecosystems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Participation in architecture governance or technical review boards.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and financial sector regulatory expectations.
• Experience driving modernization or transformation initiatives in complex organizations.
