We work closely with global engineering, product, and partner teams to launch new customer-facing AI features-from booking rides and making restaurant reservations, to enabling advanced voice-driven experiences powered by Generative AI.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE II/Senior SDE) to own and scale the integrations that power our AI assistant's international experiences. In this role, you will design and build high-scale APIs, distributed microservices, and Real Time systems that enable third-party partners to connect into our platform and deliver seamless customer experiences worldwide.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys:

  • Applying emerging Generative AI technologies
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate high-scale APIs and Back End services for partner integrations
  • Develop distributed microservices that process Real Time traffic across multiple markets
  • Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and observable
  • Optimize performance, latency, and cost for global usage
  • Collaborate with product, partner, and international engineering teams
  • Contribute to design documents, API specifications, and operational runbooks
  • Support international launches, including localization and market-specific requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • Professional experience building API-driven Back End systems
  • Strong experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • experience designing and consuming REST/gRPC APIs, including auth and error handling
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Solid understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and system reliability
  • experience operating services in high-throughput, low-latency environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in fast-moving environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong Java experience (eg, Spring Boot or related frameworks)
  • experience integrating with external/third-party partners
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub, etc.)
  • experience with observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing)
  • experience launching products in multiple international markets
  • Exposure to Generative AI/LLM-powered systems
