Job Description

Software Engineer - Cloud/DevOps (AWS)

£400 per day | Inside IR35
Contract: 12 months
Location: UK-wide | Occasional London site visits (every 1-2 months)

We're looking for a Software Engineer with strong AWS and DevOps experience to support the migration and ongoing operation of a critical media platform moving from on-premise infrastructure into AWS.

This role is heavily focused on AWS infrastructure, Scripting, resilience, and system management, working closely with external suppliers and internal platform, security, and network teams to ensure a secure and highly available service.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the migration of a large on-prem system into AWS

  • Engineering and managing AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation

  • Reviewing, improving, and maintaining infrastructure code, scripts, and versioning

  • Building resilient, monitored systems with a hybrid on-prem/cloud model

  • Working with internal teams (InfoSec, identity, networks) and third-party suppliers

  • Supporting systems that underpin live, time-critical media content

  • Improving operational resilience, monitoring, and reliability

Essential experience (must be recent - within the last 12 months)

  • Strong AWS experience in production environments

  • AWS CloudFormation

  • Command-line experience and GitHub

  • PowerShell experience with some Windows Server knowledge

    • OR strong Linux experience with willingness to learn PowerShell

  • AWS Lambda (likely Python-based)

  • AWS Step Functions

  • Load balancers and core AWS networking concepts

  • Solid DevOps experience (infrastructure, automation, reliability)

Contract details

  • Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35)

  • Duration: 12 months

  • Location: UK-based, with occasional London site visits (every 1-2 months)

  • Level: Strong mid-level/senior
