Software Development Engineer II - Full Stack (UI Focussed)

We are in the process of building and rolling out our next generation, dynamic, scalable, and resilient fulfillment platform for Tesco. This highly optimized and continuously improving platform is designed to be used to fulfil all product categories - Grocery / GM and Fashion - across all customer order fulfilment locations. The Fulfillment Point System (FPS) enables all customer order fulfilment centres across different geographies to pick, marshal and dispatch orders while managing site workflow through a real time visualisation and intervention tool.
Responsibilities- UI Development: Build rich, responsive user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).
- Feature Delivery: Implement and ship end to end stories, primarily focused on frontend with some backend integration.
- Technical Contribution: Take ownership of medium sized features and participate in their design and delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product managers and stakeholders to understand problems and propose solutions.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to peer reviews to raise the team's quality bar.
- Support & Mentorship: Help onboard junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply best practices and contribute to improving development processes and standards.
- Previous experience in product development using agile methodologies.
- Hands on experience building and supporting reliable, operationally robust full stack and distributed Java applications/products.
- Experience contributing to globally distributed software engineering teams (big plus).
- Demonstrated impact across a software engineering team.
- Experience designing and developing UI components and integrating with backend services.
- Exposure to agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Ability to support and collaborate with other engineers.
- Strong focus on UI development with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).
- Complementary backend skills in Java and microservices.
- Experience with eventing platforms, data layer components and modern tech stack.
