Software Architect

Barrington James's specialist Software & Electronics Division is currently searching for a Software Architect on a full-time permanent basis in Antwerp, Belgium.

(This opportunity is hybrid, 3 days a week on site, 2 days at home)

Requirements

Essential

• Proven experience as a Software Architect, 5+ years in Software Development
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency in Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., automotive, finance, aerospace)

Desirable

• Background in the medical device industry
• Exposure to AI or Machine Learning technologies
• Startup mindset - comfortable with fast-paced, evolving environments
• Leadership experience, especially in small or cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve a secure, cloud-native surgical planning platform.
• Integrate imaging, simulation, and AI features in collaboration with clinical and engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with medical device standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA, EU MDR).
• Lead CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes.
• Design secure data handling, authentication, and access control.
• Produce technical documentation and guide agile development.
• Mentor engineers and support high-quality technical decisions.
