Imperium Commodity Search is exclusively retained by a new-to-market grains and oilseeds desk in London with global expansion plans across the corporate hedging and speculative execution space. With a growing commodity portfolio, our client has the ability to transact in multiple global markets and has a unique exposure to the shipping and commodity trading space, allowing them insight over and above what many in the brokerage world can offer.

This desk is new to the company, but established as a unit, seeking further growth on their London futures and options offering to commodity trade houses, institutional clients, banks and funds. With further additions to be made in London to further grow the team, the group is also expanding into Asia and the US markets to offer a global, follow the sun product to their established client base.

With a unique structure and freedom to grow the softs & ags desk in the best way they see fit, this isnt an ego-driven corporate team, but a small, passionate and successful one with modest/organic growth plans for the mid-long term. This opportunity would suit a broker who has a client-centric approach to brokerage with frustrations on their current desk around progression, culture or corporate structure.

Responsibilities:

• Manage derivatives brokerage on CBOT and MATIF markets, developing relationships with clients across funds, trading houses, banks and institutional clients in oils, soft oils, edible oils, biofuels, biodiesel and wheat
• Market and execute liquidity swaps, futures and options in grains, agri and soft commodity markets (primarily grains, edible oils, biofuels etc.)
• Actively drive business development with new and existing clients
• Prepare and distrubute market data to clients for analytical and business development purposes
• Work with established internal team on growth of new lines, clients and markets
• Keep up to date on market movement and developments across the derivatives soft commodity and agricultural markets

Experience:

• 3-5+ years of experience in a derivatives brokerage covering soft commodity and agricultural commodities.
• Good understanding of niche within softs and agri (veg oil, edible oil, biodiesel, biofuel etc.)
• A modest book of clients/access (realistically only 1-200,000 in revenues transferable)
• Desire to build a broader book in a small, established and growing agricultural futures desk
• Business development and sales focused with a team orientated mentality
