Job Description

Business Development & Social Value Manager

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum (DOE)

We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Business Development & Social Value Manager to support business growth, strengthen client relationships, lead tender submissions and drive the successful delivery of social value commitments across a range of construction projects.

The Role

Working closely with senior leadership, pre-construction teams and operational teams, you will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, supporting tender and framework submissions, developing stakeholder relationships and ensuring social value commitments are delivered successfully across projects.

Key Responsibilities

Social Value

  • Develop and implement social value strategies and initiatives.
  • Produce and manage Employment Skills Plans where required.
  • Coordinate social value commitments across frameworks and projects.
  • Build relationships with schools, colleges, charities and community organisations.
  • Organise work experience placements, apprenticeship opportunities and community engagement activities.
  • Monitor performance against social value KPIs and contractual commitments.

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and framework providers.
  • Develop client engagement plans to encourage repeat business.
  • Attend networking events, industry functions and supplier engagement activities.
  • Monitor procurement and planning portals for future opportunities.
  • Maintain and develop CRM records and business development activity.

Tenders & Frameworks

  • Support PQQ, framework and tender submissions.
  • Produce high-quality written responses for bids and tenders.
  • Coordinate information from operational and technical teams.
  • Maintain bid content libraries including case studies and supporting documentation.
  • Attend framework briefings, procurement events and pre-construction meetings.

Marketing & Communications

  • Support website and social media content.
  • Assist with case studies, award submissions and promotional materials.
  • Promote business achievements and social value successes.

Apprenticeships & Early Careers

  • Coordinate apprenticeship and work experience programmes.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in business development, social value, bidding/tendering, marketing or a related role.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities.
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working within construction, housing, regeneration or infrastructure environments would be advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

  • £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Office-based role.
  • Working hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
    • Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm
  • 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
