The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team in Student Life is looking to find a Head of Technology Enhanced Learning to implement and develop the strategic and effective use of the digital to innovate teaching and learning, develop the curriculum and enhance the student learning experience, in support of the overall University and academic School plans.

The Head of Technology Enhanced Learning will lead, manage and develop the Technology Enhanced Learning team and take an institution wide view of the work and output of the team, including the promotion, guidance, and support of core TEL systems at the University.

As Head of Technology Enhanced Learning you can expect to be involved in:
  • Providing strategic direction, pedagogical and technical leadership for TEL in accordance with the University's strategic educational priorities and to ensure a proactive and responsive approach to supporting the use of technology in teaching, learning and assessment in both face-to-face and online learning contexts.
  • Setting operational plans and goals for the TEL Team, in accordance with the strategic objectives of academic Schools.
  • Directly line managing members of the TEL Team, with responsibility for their recruitment, selection, performance review, deployment, and training.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the organisation of the TEL team and business activities to ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively.
What will you bring to the role?
  • A first degree or equivalent.
  • A qualification, or significant experience, in teaching in Higher Education.
  • Significant experience of staff leadership, management including allocation and prioritisation of responsibilities and workloads.
  • Detailed and authoritative knowledge and experience of the opportunities for and challenges of digital education and innovation in face-to-face and distance-learning contexts in higher education.
