Job Description
As a SITS Developer you will work primarily on delivering solutions within SITS, mainly e:Vision according to the requirements of your assigned business strand(s) within The University's SRS Project.
Key Responsibilities
Design solutions
- Engage with supplier consultants, subject matter experts, and business analysts to understand requirements
- Contribute to the identification of design options
- Evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options
Develop solutions
- Undertake complex SITS development work and ensure design principles are adhered to and components are reused wherever possible
- e:Vision configuration and content development
- Complete development deliverables in a timely manner and to the appropriate level of quality so that the delivered solutions are fit-for purpose, can be efficiently supported and the impact of future change requests can be assessed
- Carry out systems analysis and assessment of system requirements and specifications in order to identify and address any potential issues prior to implementation
Conduct peer review and testing
- Support the SRS Project testing team in their testing of SITS
- Carry out the peer review of other development work as required
- Complete unit-testing to an agreed standard for all development work undertaken
- Investigate and provide fixes for any defects identified during testing
- Support go-live by assisting in schedule design, and resolving any issues that may arise during deployment and early life support
User experience
- The iterative development of functionality to meet business requirements, considering the whole user experience
- Refining solutions in response to user provided evaluation and feedback
- Create technical documentation to agreed standards
- Carry out knowledge transfer to BAU team(s)
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
- Demonstrable knowledge of development, configuration, and maintenance of SITS and e:Vision within a university setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of e:Vision build including:
- SRLs
- Tasking
- Vistas
- Knowledge of SITS Finance functionality (Desirable)
- Practical experience of working within an Agile development methodology (eg Agile SCRUM)
- Experience of using Agile backlog management software
- Experience of analysis, design, development and testing across multiple technologies
- Demonstrates sound understanding of information systems concepts and practice
- Has a good understanding of the software development life cycle, and the role of software testing
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Teams/Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint and databases
