This role is crucial in maintaining the UK's connectivity, responsible for ensuring the availability of the 999, DQ, and OA services that customers rely on, 24/7/365.

These services serve all CFUs and are provided to residential customers, small to large businesses, including the financial sector, public services, fixed and mobile communication providers, and emergency authorities. The platforms involved are considered Critical National Infrastructure.

What you'll be doing

Providing professional 2nd and 3rd line support, collaborating with development teams to resolve issues.

Leading technical efforts to restore service during outages, coordinating remedial actions, and engaging relevant stakeholders promptly.

Managing risk proactively through assessments and controls, raising concerns as needed.

Handling change activities in live and model environments within agreed timelines.

Developing resource plans, prioritizing, and allocating work to meet project goals.

Monitoring, analyzing metrics, and implementing improvements for stability, security, and performance.

Designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems across on-premises and cloud environments.

Automating systems to enhance reliability and velocity, inspecting queues, and support processes to identify early warnings.

Implementing monitoring and alerting systems, conducting root cause analyses, and learning from incidents.

Analyzing complex systems for reliability and resilience, identifying sources of instability.

Sharing knowledge on industry best practices, mentoring team members, and acting as a technical resource.

Skills required

Monitoring and support for Windows 10/Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, WSUS, Linux OS, databases (SQL, MariaDB, REDIS, TimesTen), troubleshooting hardware/software issues, system analysis, customer service, and hardware/software installation.
