At Careys, we're proud to deliver some of the most complex and high profile civil engineering projects across the UK. We are now looking for a Site Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, high quality and technically excellent work on site.

What you will do:
  • Carry out accurate setting out using a variety of surveying equipment.
  • Check levels, dimensions and tolerances to ensure work is completed correctly.
  • Support the Senior Engineer in resolving technical queries and RFIs.
  • Review drawings, raise issues early, and help ensure work is buildable and compliant.
  • Work closely with Site Managers and Supervisors to plan and sequence works.
  • Provide clear construction information to the workforce, including sketches and mark ups.
  • Monitor progress and provide input into short term planning.
  • Maintain accurate as built records and support digital deliverables.
  • Help prepare Inspection & Test Plans and carry out quality checks on site.
  • Identify issues early and support the resolution of non conformances.
  • Carry out material checks and ensure correct testing and sampling procedures.
  • Assist with take offs and scheduling of key materials such as drainage, reinforcement and waterbars.
  • Complete temporary works inspections and support simple temporary works designs.
  • Supervise Apprentice and Graduate Engineers, offering day to day guidance.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to support safe and efficient delivery.
  • Build strong relationships internally and externally to keep information flowing.
What You Will Bring:
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Solid civil engineering knowledge with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using digital tools, including AutoCAD/BricsCAD.
  • Confident surveying and setting out skills.
  • Experience in inspection, testing and quality assurance of construction materials.
  • 4+ years' experience on major civil engineering projects (infrastructure, rail, highways or utilities).
  • HNC or above in Civil or Structural Engineering.
