Site Engineer - Cumbria - Major Highways Project

With a project value of £120 million, this scheme will transform connectivity across the North of England. We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to lead the successful delivery of this major highways scheme based in Penrith.
Your new role :
As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the construction team with technical input, quality assurance, and site coordination. You will ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with design specifications.
Key Responsibilities:

• Set out and survey works in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with technical standards.
• Assist in the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and site documentation.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team to ensure smooth site operations.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries and as-built information.
• Support the resolution of technical issues and contribute to design coordination.
• Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards on site.

What you'll need to succeed :

• Previous experience in a Site Engineer role on highways or major infrastructure projects.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of setting out, surveying, and construction methodologies.
• Familiarity with National Highways standards and procedures is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• CSCS card and relevant site certifications.
