Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grade C fee earner / paralegal within the Serious Injuries Team. This is a chance to be part of a growing department, within a market-leading firm. The cases in SIT are challenging but rewarding, supporting seriously injured clients to rebuild their lives and securing them compensation that can grant them the independence accident related injuries have taken away.

This is a fee earning role with a case load of up to 40 pre-litigated and litigated SIT multi-track & intermediate track files. The cases are mainly RTA, with some EL/PL claims. Your caseload will comprise a mixture of liability admitted and denied cases, with potential to be of significant value, and with a value in excess of £25,000. You will also benefit from the assistance of a Case Assistant to help drive your files to a positive outcome for the client.

In addition to managing a case load, you will be required at times to assist the Grade A solicitors upon their high value/catastrophic files with certain delegated tasks, accompanying them to conferences, attending upon witnesses, client visits etc. The combination of having a case load and assisting on more complex cases will require excellent time management skills and an ability to manage and prioritise tasks, while always meeting clients' expectations.

Case handlers will also be required to provide guidance to the case assistant(s) within SIT who will in turn be providing support to you. Further, all fee earners within SIT provide support and assistance via the Case Clinics to other case handling areas across the wider business.

Whenever such courses are attended externally a fee earner will be required to feedback to the team(s) within monthly meetings. SIT also provide internal training to other departments and case handlers will be asked to contribute upon areas within their knowledge and experience.

Your Experience
  • Prior case handling experience in personal injury is essential
