Job Description
Job Overview

TERM: Full Time - 38.5 Hours per Week. Must be flexible to commit to shift patterns ranging from 7 am to 7 pm between Monday and Sunday, working 7 out of 14 days on a rolling rota.

RATE: £15.52 per hour.

Work at PJ Care, catering services to 53 residents with 3 daily meals, using a digital menu ordering platform. You will receive a minimum of 5-6 months of training alongside the current Head Chef.

Aim of Position

Assist with the management of day to day catering services, ensuring strict food hygiene standards, health & safety of kitchen areas and staff, and support the Shift Lead Chef.

Responsibilities

Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Catering Team during your scheduled shift.
  • Develop a communication system with the other Shift Lead Chef and ensure continuity of service.
  • Attend management meetings as required.
  • Carry out regular monthly audits of the Catering service provision with the other Shift Lead Chef to maintain standards.
  • Ensure compliance with PJ Care Ltd Catering Policy and Procedure.

Catering:

  • Ensure catering meets nutritional and dietary needs of residents, respecting personal preferences and allergies in line with company policies.
  • Assist the Catering Manager & Head Chef in producing five weekly menu plans on a seasonal rota within budgetary restraints.
  • Assist in preparing a costed menu programme for PJ Care Ltd.
  • Help plan and run culture days.
  • Learn and assist the kitchen team with all IDDSI diet levels - training will be given, but prior knowledge is desirable.

When required:

  • Ensure all statutory standards for catering services are met and maintain appropriate records.
  • Maintain sufficient stocks of dry, chilled and frozen goods to meet menu plan requirements.
  • Carry out audits of catering areas for compliance with HACCP and other legislation, ensuring good stock management and reporting to the Catering Manager.
  • Maintain a 5 star rating with leading EHO for kitchen inspections and internal audits.
  • Train and develop emerging chefs to excel under your leadership and for PJ Care.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience as Lead Chef in the Health Care sector.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Able to undergo up to 6 months of training with the current Head Chef.
  • Knowledge of IDDSI diet levels is desirable; training will be provided.
