Advert Details: SHEQ Officer The Role We are looking for a SHEQ Officer to join our team and support the continued development of safety, health, environmental and quality standards across our operations. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their career in SHEQ within a fast-paced, operational environment. You may already have experience in a SHEQ, EHS, health and safety or environmental role, or you may be studying, recently qualified, or looking to take the next step in your career. The role would suit someone who is curious, practical, confident working with people and keen to learn. You will work closely with operational teams, managers and colleagues across the business to help identify risks, improve standards and support a strong SHEQ culture. You will gain hands-on experience in a challenging but rewarding industry, with support, coaching and development from the wider SHEQ team. What You ll Be Doing Carry out regular site inspections, environmental assessments and audits to support compliance with company standards and legal requirements. Identify workplace hazards, risks and environmental impacts, recording findings on internal systems and recommending appropriate control measures. Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, helping to identify root causes and corrective actions. Assist with the delivery of SHEQ training, toolbox talks and briefings for employees, contractors and visitors. Monitor workplace conditions and support activities that promote employee health, safety and wellbeing. Work with operational teams to address SHEQ concerns and support continuous improvement. Help develop, maintain and test emergency response plans and procedures. Support compliance with relevant safety, health, environmental and quality legislation, policies and procedures. Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports and documentation. Promote a positive SHEQ culture across the site and wider business.About You We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in safety, health, environment and quality, and the confidence to work in a busy operational setting. You will ideally have: A qualification, or be working towards a qualification, in occupational health and safety, environmental management or a related subject. Some experience in a SHEQ, EHS, health and safety, environmental or operational compliance role would be an advantage. Experience in a high-risk, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, construction, waste, recycling or similar environment would be beneficial. Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records. Good communication skills and the confidence to engage with people at all levels. A practical approach to problem solving and risk management. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
