On behalf of HSE we are looking for a ServiceNow Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 4 month contract. Remote working with occasional travel to Bootle.

We're looking for an experienced ServiceNow professional to help shape the future of our ServiceNow platform.
This role will focus on establishing clear governance for ServiceNow improvements, developing a robust approach for managing enhancements, and supporting the wider ServiceNow function in delivering a best-in-class service experience.
Working with senior stakeholders and the ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert, you will help define how improvements are identified, prioritised, and implemented, ensuring that ServiceNow continues to evolve in line with organisational needs. This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic direction, strengthen governance, and ensure ServiceNow delivers measurable value across the business.
As a ServiceNow Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:
. Support the ServiceNow SME in designing and implementing an improved governance model for managing enhancements and change requests.
. Develop a structured process for assessing proposed improvements, prioritising them based on business impact, and aligning delivery with organisational objectives.
. Establish clear criteria and procedures for change and release management, ensuring the ServiceNow environment remains stable, secure, and compliant.
. Engage key business stakeholders in governance activities to ensure transparency and collaborative decision-making.
. Work with stakeholders to evaluate the current operating model for maintaining and supporting ServiceNow.
. Provide recommendations for a future operating model that optimises support, performance, and user satisfaction.
. Support the ServiceNow SME in producing and implementing a consolidated improvement plan that reflects current and future enhancement priorities.
Essential:
. An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
. Strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform and its core modules, particularly ITSM.
. Experience designing and implementing ServiceNow governance, enhancement, or improvement frameworks.
. Ability to analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement using out-of-the-box ServiceNow capabilities.
. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
. Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practice in service management.
. Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
. Experience supporting or collaborating with ServiceNow SMEs, developers, or administrators.
. ServiceNow certification (eg System Administrator)
