Job Description
We're looking for a Service Driver / Civils Support to provide essential logistical and operational support to Site Operatives and Civils teams, to help improve efficiency in material, equipment, plant, and vehicle management.
This role involves assisting teams on-site, maintaining high housekeeping standards, ensuring proper site closures, and preventing fines for non-compliance.
This position offers the opportunity to develop skills across a variety of tasks related to operational delivery of utilities projects and the support of civils teams.
Location: South of England - head office in Hedge End, Southampton
- Deliver and collect equipment, tools and materials to and from operational sites using company vehicles.
- Safely tow approved trailers or small-plant equipment as required.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure defects are promptly reported.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and represent the company professionally at all times.
- Plan efficient travel routes to support timely delivery and minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle usage.
- Assist civils teams with general tasks as directed by Supervisors.
- Conduct end of site close-down surveys to ensure areas are left clean, tidy, and fully compliant.
- Manage, transport, and position Chapter 8 traffic management equipment where required.
- Maintain safe, secure, and organised storage of civils materials and equipment on sites and in the yard.
- Support safe loading/unloading of vehicles, ensuring loads are secure before transit.
- Adhere to all road traffic laws, safety regulations, and company transport procedures.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with teams on-site and in the warehouse.
- Good organisational abilities, including maintaining records and planning daily routes.
- Physically capable of manual handling associated with loading/unloading vehicles and equipment.
- Practical problem solving skills with the ability to use initiative without compromising safety.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast paced operational environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support a wide range of tasks.
- Experience working in a customer service environment is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence (with towing capability).
- Experience in construction, logistics, civils, or site support environment is advantageous.
- Street Works SWQR, EUSR/SHEA and First Aid tickets.
- Other safety related training desirable (training can be provided).
- Basic IT skills, including use of handheld devices for operational tasks.
