The post holder will work closely with the Head of Media and Communications to shape the content pipeline, oversee quality and tone, support campaign delivery, and line manage a small number of team members. The role will help OMF UK communicate with churches, supporters, workers, volunteers and the wider Christian public in a way that inspires prayer, giving, mobilisation and mission engagement.

Role responsibilities

Editorial leadership and content planning

Lead the planning, commissioning, writing, editing and delivery of OMF UK written content across agreed channels.

Develop and maintain a clear editorial calendar, ensuring deadlines, themes, campaigns, publication cycles and ministry priorities are coordinated effectively.

Oversee the written tone, quality and consistency of OMF UK content, ensuring it reflects OMF's mission, theology, values, intercultural sensitivity and safeguarding expectations.

Work with the Head of Media and Communications to identify content priorities that support mobilisation, supporter engagement, prayer, giving and church relationships.

Writing, storytelling and editorial delivery

Write, edit and shape compelling stories, articles, interviews, news items, prayer resources, campaign copy, supporter communications and web content.

Lead editorial input for key publications and resources, including magazine content, prayer materials, digital content and other OMF UK resources as agreed.

Conduct interviews with OMF workers, supporters, church leaders, volunteers and ministry contacts, handling sensitive information with care, dignity and confidentiality.

Ensure stories and testimonies are presented truthfully and responsibly, with appropriate permissions, cultural awareness and respect for security and safeguarding considerations.

Line management and team leadership

Line manage team members, providing regular one-to-ones, supervision, workload planning, development support and day-to-day guidance.

Allocate editorial and content tasks clearly, agree priorities and support staff to deliver work to agreed standards and timescales.

Create a positive, prayerful and collaborative team culture that reflects OMF's fellowship, care, integrity and commitment to mission.

Support performance, wellbeing and professional development within the team, raising concerns appropriately with the Head of Media and Communications where needed.

Content governance, approvals and quality control

Maintain clear editorial processes for drafting, editing, proofing, approvals, consent, safeguarding review and publication.

Help develop and maintain OMF UK editorial guidance, tone of voice, content standards and written style expectations.

Ensure content is accurate, accessible, legally appropriate, pastorally wise and suitable for the intended audience.

Work with colleagues to ensure data protection, image consent, confidentiality and safeguarding requirements are considered before publication.

Digital, media and campaign collaboration

Work with social media, design, audio, video and external creative partners to turn editorial priorities into effective multi-channel communications.

Provide scripts, written briefings, story framing and editorial review for video, podcast, audio and campaign activity as required.

Collaborate with OMF International media colleagues and other OMF centres to share appropriate stories, resources and campaign materials.

Support the promotion of OMF UK stories and resources to relevant church, mission and Christian media audiences where appropriate.

Training, equipping and wider contribution

Equip staff, members and workers to tell stories well, write clearly and communicate OMF's mission with accuracy, sensitivity and purpose.

Contribute to workshops, equipping days, communications consultations and team training as agreed.

Participate in OMF UK meetings, prayer and devotional life, including leading prayers or devotions when required.

Undertake other reasonable duties and projects requested by the Head of Media and Communications, consistent with the level and purpose of the role.
