Senior Wound Clinic Nurse

Job Responsibilities- Provide high quality, evidence based patient care and support Lead Nurses in managing caseloads effectively and efficiently.
- Support junior staff development, promote clinical excellence and quality assurance, and act as a champion for the wound clinic service area.
- Facilitate, develop, evaluate and share good working practice; support Wound Clinic Leads to keep teams informed via regular staff meetings and a variety of communication techniques.
- Provide learning opportunities and experiences for team members, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Participate in service development and audit, especially evidencing wound healing rates within the clinic environment.
- Actively support the development of a culture that is open to change and innovation, providing highly specialised nursing care to individuals with complex needs.
- Support caseload management, monitor standards of care, deploy and supervise team members, and ensure daily clinical patient care.
- Co ordinate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes and care plans that reflect the individual needs of patients.
- Be involved in the education and training of junior staff and other staff employed within the care settings, responding to challenging situations and managing complaints, errors and concerns in line with local policies.
- Maintain confidentiality, know when to escal ate clinical or operational issues to the line manager, and help manage any complaints or concerns in line with local policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Registered General Nurse.
- Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD/learning.
- Recognised qualification in Therapeutic Vascular at degree level or willingness to work towards it (wound management and/or leg ulcer modules).
- V300 prescriber or willing to work towards.
- DCHS Tissue Viability training including 2 day lower limb.
- Experience in a Band 5 or Band 6 role.
- Broad range of clinical skills and experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of National/Local Tissue Viability initiatives, guidance and policies.
- Experience of participating/co ordinating audit projects and clinical management experience.
- Experience of working in wound clinics.
- Leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and effective time management.
- Evaluation and clinical reasoning skills.
- Basic information technology skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to meet the travel requirements for this post; travel to clinical sites and across the county will be frequent.
- Able to work weekends and bank holidays.
