Job Description
Title: Senior Wayfinding Designer
Job Type: Perm
Job Hours: Full time
Location: Hybrid (3 days in London studio, Mon and Wed fixed)
Salary range: £45 - 55k
The speed read:
A Branded Environments team within an international Architecture and Design studio is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Wayfinding Designer who can help people find their way and make the journey look good while they re at it. You ll lead design work across wayfinding, placemaking, and visual identity, from early concepts through to on-site delivery. Basically: strategy, signs, spaces all tied together beautifully.
The facts:
You ve found your niche in wayfinding design and have a portfolio that demonstrates experience designing wayfinding systems for large-scale projects and complex environments, including infrastructure. You may have worked with museums and galleries, transport services such as train stations or airports, residential developments, office signage systems, or other environments where clarity, legibility, and experience really matter.
You re passionate about people, access, and inclusion designing with everyone in mind. Beyond design, you re confident understanding project scope, planning delivery (including budgets), developing strategy, managing clients, and overseeing work within the studio.
Ideally, you ll have experience managing projects and mentoring or managing junior designers, supporting the development of others while maintaining a high standard of work. Proven leadership experience is a bonus, but not essential what matters most is your ability to take ownership, collaborate effectively, and lead wayfinding projects with confidence.
This role would suit an established senior, but equally a punchy mid-level designer with strong wayfinding credentials who s ready to step into a senior position, take ownership of projects, and grow their leadership responsibilities.
You ll be:
• Producing, supervising and delivering design systems, guidelines,
drawings, and specifications at the conceptual, tender and
construction stages.
• Turning research and strategy into thoughtful, user-friendly design
• Designing across environments- not just pretty, but purposeful
• Collaborating with 3D designers, architects, clients, and contractors
• Presenting ideas clearly (and convincingly) to both internal teams
and clients
• Managing multiple projects and mentoring Junior members of the
team
• Involved in the generation of bids and tender documents.
• Joining a friendly, professional and committed team.
You ll have:
• A keen eye for design and passion for creating design systems.
• A portfolio full of smart, well-executed wayfinding and
environmental design
• Strong typography and layout skills (and you know your way around
a floorplan)
• Confidence in navigating both creative reviews and construction
sites
• A good handle on accessibility, materials, and real-world application
• Fluent Adobe Creative Suite skills and solid attention to detail
• An understanding of Revit and be able to oversee projects in this
tool
• Experience using Signagent is a bonus
• Excellent communication - visual, verbal, and written
