Senior Therapy Technical Instructor

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our dynamic team working across our hospital Palliative Care and Respiratory Ward and our Hospice service, allowing you to develop a broad and rewarding skillset in supportive, rehabilitative, and end of life care.

You will work closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to support patients with complex, life limiting and respiratory conditions. You will play a vital role in helping people maintain comfort, dignity, independence and quality of life.

Main duties of the job What you'll be doing
  • Supporting therapy assessments and treatment programmes
  • Assisting patients with mobility, exercise, breathing techniques and functional activities
  • Helping to optimise comfort, independence and symptom management
  • Providing compassionate support to patients and families
  • Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to equipment provision and discharge planning
  • Using an online referral system to manage patient caseload
  • Identifying and signposting to local community services
  • Helping to facilitate group work in relation to breathlessness, exercise, falls and fatigue management
  • This role will help to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families, enabling you to be part of a team that values respect, compassion and dignity using a holistic approach.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications
  • GCSE English Grade C/4 and above or equivalent or evidence of good literacy
  • GCSE Maths Grade C/4 and above or equivalent or evidence of good numeracy
  • Meets competency framework for Technical Instructor Band 3 specific to work area
  • GCSE Science's Grade C/4 and above
Experience
  • High level of background working as a Therapies Technical Instructor
  • Acute hospital experience
  • Experience in Palliative care and respiratory conditions
Skills, Ability & Knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective, confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Holds full UK driving licence and able to drive
  • Organised and adaptable across varied clinical environments
  • Experience of supervising staff
