LOCATION: Salford Quay House
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £60,000 - £70,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the roleManaging Fixed Line Telephony Modernisation Project - review and consolidation of BBC's fixed line telephony estate, completion of 13 international telephony migrations to a new vendor, completion of new UK telephony build including migration in 55 sites, design of new service support for Telephony in BAU, and decommissioning of existing service. The project involves a considerable degree of commercial and senior stakeholder engagement due to complexities with managing migration to a new vendor from an existing long-standing Atos supported service, and the introduction of a new service provider for Telephony and Unified Communications across the BBC as part of the EICTH exit. The project involves multiple delivery streams running in parallel under the same project team - Unify cease, International, Pre-Production, Production, Telephony Transition, Unify server migrations (Netcall, Xpert, London Operator Service).
Why join the team
Working primarily with a small but specialist team of product and project managers to deliver the next generation of telephony service to the BBCs buildings and production teams. The team are distributed around the UK and deliver to all sites UK and overseas. As part of the wider Programme and Project delivery group you will be one of a highly experienced team delivering over 120 technology projects to the BBC.
Your key responsibilities and impact- Stakeholder management (SLT, Commercial, External Vendors + the usual internal complex groups are key)
- High degree of organisational skills to effectively track and manage all project streams
- Some prior knowledge of Telephony / Teams Voice / BBC Unified Comms is preferred but not essential
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Delivery knowledge and planning - known for knowledge and experience of delivery practices. Can identify and apply the right tools for the job. Specialist in one or both of the following areas Agile, Waterfall. Known for delivery in ambiguous, fast-changing and complex environments. Produce a project management plan (PMP) or equivalent to get agreement with stakeholders for the purpose, nature and scope of the project and secure approval to proceed. Contribute to or produce the relevant documentation (e.g. Business Case) to secure investment or resource allocation.
- Maintaining delivery momentum - you can solve issues and unblock problems. You know how to drive teams and set the pace, ensuring teams are working towards defined outcomes and delivery commitments. You can actively manage risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team, department or division.
- Commercial management - you can support effective supplier and contractor management within the constraints of the project. You work with internal partners (e.g. commercial, procurement, legal) and follow BBC processes. You can manage suppliers to deliver successful outcomes and ensure value for money.
- Stakeholder management. Senior leadership teams, Commercial, External Vendors and business groups are key. High degree of organisational skills to effectively track and manage all project streams and governance.
- Governance. Support the project sponsor to lead the project working group/steering group (or agreed governance) for successful project delivery incl. appropriate stakeholder representation. Provide reporting to senior stakeholders and relevant governance forums. Ensure controlled phase/project closure with appropriate review of performance, sharing of lessons learned, handover specifics, ongoing ownership and a planned post implementation review.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Have a recognised project management qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2 etc) or equivalent experience and apply good practice to the projects you manage.
- Voice and Telephony Communications
- Some prior knowledge of Telephony / Teams Voice / BBC Unified Comms is preferred but not essential.
- Understanding of the BBC's enterprise IT environment and the opportunities and challenges for change
- Business Change and Stakeholder Engagement Support the business by ensuring change management activities are executed incl. relevant training and active engagement with users to enable effective adoption of technology and optimisation of benefits.
