Job Description

We're looking for a talented Senior Structural Engineer to join our client's growing Chorley team. You'll take the lead on designing and delivering standout residential and commercial projects.

This is your chance to make a real impact - working on a wide variety of developments, from concept through to completion, while building your expertise and growing your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

What's on offer:

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Performance-based bonus scheme
  • Support with professional chartership
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Employer pension contributions
  • Paid overtime
  • Interest-free travel loans

The Role

  • Lead and manage a varied portfolio of projects, delivering high-quality outcomes at every stage.
  • Oversee UK-based projects across industrial, residential, retail, commercial, and healthcare sectors, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to create well-coordinated design solutions aligned with project objectives.
  • Ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget, maintaining the company's reputation for reliability and excellence.
  • Undertake structural inspections and assessments of both new and existing properties, applying expertise in concrete, steel, timber, and masonry to resolve complex challenges.
  • Carry out structural analysis and design using industry-standard software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds), producing accurate and consistent technical outputs, drawings, and reports.
  • Prepare clear, professional documentation such as structural survey reports and design deliverables.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, encouraging professional growth and contributing to team development.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently, from concept through to completion.
  • Strong technical expertise in both new-build and refurbishment structures.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for high-quality structural design.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience liaising effectively with clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Tekla, Tedds, ETABS, or similar).
  • Chartered status with IStructE or ICE (or close to achieving chartership, with clear progress made).
  • Degree-qualified (MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering, or equivalent).
