Overview of the Role
The Stock and CAPEX controller is a pivotal role within the Al-Futtaim automotive division, focusing on managing and overseeing the inventory / stock levels and capital expenditure (CAPEX) for the Auto Division. This role ensures that:
•The company's working capital is optimised, that inventory KPIs are met and all underlying commercial decisions are effectively executed.
•All CAPEX projects are planned, executed and monitored effectively to support the company's strategic goals; most importantly cash flows and capital allocation has to be optimised by business unit (UAE & International).
The Stock & CAPEX Controller will work as business partner with planning & network teams and supporting various departments, including finance, operations, central planning, sales, project management and network development to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize stock discrepancies with accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of CAPEX activities.


What You Will Do
Inventory Management:
• Monitor vehicle stock levels and working capital deployment across showrooms, yards and pipeline to optimize inventory days / working capital and cash conversion cycle.
• Support the Head of Central Planning to balance supply with demand and avoid overstocking, stock-outs and overage provisioning.
• Support Head of Central Planning to analyse demand forecasts, order intake, and historical sales to develop optimized vehicle stock plans at model, variant, and location level.
• Monitor inventory levels across all facilities (showrooms, yards, in-transit) and ensure balance between availability and working capital efficiency.
• Identify aging stock and liquidation rates resulting from the implementation of strategic interventions such as VMEs, reallocation, or campaign bundling.
• Coordinate with business unit Sales Planning and Product teams to better forecast incoming shipments and prioritize model availability based on current and upcoming campaigns.
• Develop and maintain vehicle stock aging and stock aging reports segmented by brand, model, trim and colour.
• Drive initiatives to improve stock turnover ratio, minimize holding costs and reduce exposure to obsolete or redundant new unit inventory.
• Identify slow-moving and aging stock; work with Head of Central Planning and other Heads of Business to develop corrective actions and clearance strategies.

CAPEX Management
• Lead the consolidation and submission of annual and quarterly CAPEX budgets/forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with business units to assess and validate CAPEX requirements, business cases and investment justifications.
• Track the progress of CAPEX projects, monitor spend vs. budget and escalate deviations or risks to stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Work with Finance and Accounting to ensure proper capitalization of assets, alignment with IFRS standards, and accurate GL mapping.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly CAPEX performance reports for senior leadership, highlighting key variances, ROI updates, and project statuses.
• Monitor and track CAPEX expenditures, ensuring that projects stay within budget / are completed on time and cash outflows are accurately forecasted.
• Assess financial analysis and feasibility studies for proposed CAPEX projects to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with AFRE department heads to ensure accurate and timely reporting of CAPEX activities.
• Prepare and present regular reports on CAPEX spend, including variance analysis and recommendations for improvement.
• Assist in the development and implementation of CAPEX management systems and software.
• Review and approve CAPEX requests, ensuring that they meet the company's investment criteria and strategic goals.

Reporting and Analytics:
• Design and maintain real-time dashboards for CAPEX utilization, vehicle stock health and forecast vs. actual comparisons.
• Prepare board-level reports, including visual presentations, KPIs, and commentary for strategic CAPEX and stock decisions.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for CAPEX or inventory variances and propose corrective measures.
• Develop automated tools or templates to standardize CAPEX and inventory reporting across the organization.
• Collaborate with Head of Central Planning and Head of Network and brands teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory and CAPEX activities.

Stakeholder Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Act as the liaison between Central Planning, Network Development, Finance, AFRE, Product, Sales and Logistics teams to ensure aligned execution of stock and CAPEX plans.
• Participate in monthly SSOP (Sales, Stock & Order Planning) meetings to integrate business forecasts with stock availability and capital allocation.
• Engage with Brand representatives to discuss lead times, incoming pipeline and stock adjustment requirements.
• Assist commercial and operational heads with business cases for expansion, refurbishments or workshop capacity enhancements requiring CAPEX.
• Support strategic planning exercises by providing key data, scenario modelling and investment tracking inputs.

Required Skills to Be Successful

• Knowledge of automotive market and pricing strategies
• Proficiency in Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and ERP systems (SAP preferable)



About the Team
As a Stock & CAPEX Controller you will be reporting to general manager Finance - Performance & Planning (dotted line to Head of Product & Pricing).

What Equips You for the Role

• Finance degree, Economics, or related field (CA/CFA is preferred)
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience in inventory management and/or financial planning in automotive or asset-heavy industries
• Experience working with multi-brand vehicle portfolios and large-scale CAPEX programs
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and internal control procedures
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools
