Previously directing teams of 170+ engineers at Mercado Libre and orchestrating large-scale ML-based inference at Meta. At Relay, Diego's infectious enthusiasm and hands-on leadership are redefining the boundaries of speed and reliability

The Opportunity

The Senior Special Projects Manager leads high-impact initiatives that drive growth, automation, and operational excellence across Relay's networks (Sortation, Routing, etc). Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this role is central to delivering innovation and executing complex projects aligned with Relay's mission to transform e-commerce.

  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to bring automation and innovation to life across Relay's logistics infrastructure.

  • Lead end-to-end project execution - from scoping and planning to cross-functional coordination, milestone tracking, risk management, and reporting.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks and iterating on solutions to improve performance and scalability.

Some projects you will be leading are:

  • Sort to Light: Design and implement visual aid systems that enhance accuracy and precision in operative sortation workflows.

  • AI-Driven Performance Management: Leverage cutting-edge AI technology integrated with video and CCTV to equip sortation managers with actionable insights and real-time feedback loops for managing operative performance.

  • Faster Loading and Staging Through Technology: Identify and deploy next-generation tools that enable Relay to build industry-leading mechanisms for loading and staging data at high speeds.

  • Creative Problem Solving via Technology: Develop solutions to track bag location across the entire network in real time, using advanced sensors, data visualisation, and AI.
