Our Linux Performance team is a specialized group that improves the performance and efficiency of Akamai's Intelligent Platform. Our Linux Engineering team provides Linux kernel and operating system innovation for the Akamai global distributed network, which includes over 300,000 servers deployed across more than 1000 networks and in over 100 countries.

We seek individuals who thrive on challenges, have a passion for learning, and can pose and solve complex problems. The role requires skills in system design, programming, debugging, a dedication to code quality, and independence. A passion for efficiency and accuracy is essential.

As a Senior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Analyzing system performance, identifying issues, and designing and implementing solutions.
2. Extending metrics collection, creating visualizations, and conducting statistical data analysis to quantify system performance.
3. Building tools to help identify performance problems more rapidly.
4. Training other engineers to recognize performance issues.
5. Collaborating with teams across the company to implement solutions.

Do what you love

To succeed in this role, you should:

1. Have advanced programming experience in C.
2. Be proficient with Python, Bash, or Perl.
3. Have a comprehensive understanding of Linux internals and kernel interactions.
4. Possess deep experience with complex data structures, algorithms, and optimization techniques.
5. Understand network protocols including IP, IPv6, TCP, and UDP.
6. Be proficient with Git version control system.
