What you'll doAs a Senior Software Engineer at Deliveroo, your individual work contributes to goals across multiple teams. You will work with your team and lead projects, while some work may contribute outside your direct remit. You will report to managers and group leads and jointly deliver results.
Technical ExecutionYou will improve code structure and architecture, review code across scope produced by your team, and lead team project planning. You will foresee dependencies and risks and collaborate with other disciplines (e.g., PM, Experience). You will aim to simplify the maintenance and operation of production systems, promote visibility, operational readiness, and health of your team's systems. You will build relationships with other engineering teams, identify collaboration opportunities, and break down large pieces of work, guiding design and technical/implementation choices and influencing the roadmap within your team. You will take an active role in the hiring process and in engineering interviews, and support the personal growth of colleagues to improve efficiency in their roles.
We don't expect you to meet every item below, but it would be great to have experience in some of these areas:
- Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software
- Experience writing web-based applications in any language, with an interest in learning (Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust)
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Familiarity with web architecture at scale (20k rpm and above)
- Familiarity with NoSQL data backends and other technologies such as Redis, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Memcached
