Job Description

Leeds Sexual Health is a busy and dynamic service offering a wide range of services such as STI testing & treatments, contraception advise & provision, pregnancy testing and support, care after sexual assault, vaccinations and care to vulnerable and high-risk groups. Our service users attend with a variety of sexual health and contraceptive needs, requiring care, comprehensive assessment, and treatment by our multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will hold both qualifications in sexual health and contraception such as DFSRH diploma and STIF intermediate with the addition of LoC SDI implant removal, fits, refits, non-medical prescribing and microscopy skills.

Applicants who do not yet meet all the essential qualifications may be considered for appointment at Band 5, with a development pathway to Band 6 depending on experience.

Leeds Sexual Health operates from clinics 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday between the hours 8 am to 8 pm, with the opportunity to support outreach events outside of working hours. You will be required to be flexible and to cover clinics across Leeds, our main Hub is based at Beeston Hill Health Centre, and we have spoke sites at Armley, Chapeltown, City Centre & Seacroft, along with other outreach sites across Leeds.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to move across sites and be able to travel independently to other bases during shifts to cover independent clinics and provide care to vulnerable and hard to reach service users. We have dedicated under 18 young people clinics across the city where you will assess safeguarding risks and support care needs. Leeds Sexual Health is an integrated service, and our partners are Leeds Teaching hospital, GP Confed and Central Forum. The role involves supporting wider colleagues, junior staff, nursing and medical trainees. You will also provide support as nurse co ordinator in the smooth running of clinics and triage emergency and urgent care on the day. The post holder is responsible for providing high standards of clinical nursing expertise to service users in the field of SRH/GUM across the footprint of Leeds, providing information and advice, counselling to help patients diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection to understand and manage their condition.
