A specialist engineering company based in Stockport is seeking a Senior Service Engineer to join its growing team. The business focuses on the design and build of advanced inspection and simulation machines for industrial applications.

This is a key role, offering responsibility for technical support, system performance, and mentoring within a fast paced and high standards environment.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting - Provide advanced technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Project Leadership - Lead service interventions, installations, and commissioning activities on site, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Mentoring and Training - Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on best practices, technical procedures, and fault finding techniques.
  • System Monitoring - Conduct regular performance audits and inspections to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Documentation - Maintain accurate service records, technical documentation, and system configuration details in line with company procedures.
  • Customer Engagement - Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers. Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to a range of stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Safety - Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, safety regulations, and relevant industry legislation.
  • Internal Collaboration - Work closely with design, development, and production teams to support system improvements and resolve recurring technical issues.
Candidate Requirements Education & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a service engineering role, ideally involving complex systems or industrial machinery.
  • Proven ability to fault find and repair mechanical, electrical, and software integrated systems.
  • Experience working with Operational Technology (OT) or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is advantageous.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or coach junior engineers.
  • Flexible and willing to travel nationally and internationally, often at short notice.
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport with no travel restrictions.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
