Job Description
The Senior Scientist will contribute to Abcam's Antibody Product Portfolio expansion by designing validation strategies to characterize new antibodies. The position reports to the Team Leader Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry and is part of the Validation Team located in Cambridge and will be an on site role.
Responsibilities- Design the best strategy for the validation of new antibodies for critical research areas like cancer, immunology and infectious diseases.
- Establish and troubleshoot new processes, with a focus on standardization and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high quality standards within the lab; ensuring compliance with all external and internal quality standards, including ISO9001.
- Manage and mentor more junior colleagues, creating an engaging environment.
- Ensure project objectives are met on agreed timelines and proactively communicate progress to stakeholders.
- PhD in Immunology, Immuno Oncology or infectious disease, or equivalent years of experience in an industry setting (typically 5 years) plus 7 years of experience between academia and industry.
- Strong Flow Cytometry background and practical expertise in multicolor immunophenotyping experiments (extra and intracellular marker panels for human and murine samples).
- Extensive experience in establishing new assays and protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask and work to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate open and constructive communication within the team and with other teams across the company worldwide.
- Experience in people management.
- Previous work to ISO9001 quality standards.
