Background

We are looking for a Senior Safety Advisor to provide hands-on health and safety support and assurance across Evara Construction projects and operational locations. • Engage proactively with operational teams, contractors and service providers to influence behaviours, strengthen safety leadership and improve performance.

  • Review and advise on risk assessments, method statements, inspection and audit findings, and corrective action plans.

  • Plan and conduct site inspections and audits, assess the effectiveness of controls and follow through to timely close-out of actions.

  • Provide competent, practical advice to site management and contractors on safe systems of work, construction risks and compliance expectations.

  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, identify underlying and root causes, and recommend proportionate corrective and preventive measures.

  • Deliver or coordinate inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and targeted awareness initiatives.

  • Monitor health and safety documentation and contractor arrangements for quality, completeness and implementation on site.

  • Prepare monthly project safety reports, analyse trends and highlight recurring risks, performance gaps and improvement opportunities.

  • Build effective working relationships across teams and contribute to the development and improvement of Evara's safety processes.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety management systems and project arrangements.

  • Conduct and review risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations; identify trends and ensure corrective and preventive actions are assigned, tracked and verified.

  • Ensure health and safety documentation, records, policies and procedures for assigned projects are accurate, controlled, accessible and suitable for demonstrating compliance.

  • Provide competent health and safety advice and practical support to management, employees and contractors, exercising sound judgement and escalating matters beyond authority or competence.

  • Prepare monthly project safety reports, interpret performance data and communicate key risks, incidents, trends and action status to relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead or coordinate assigned safety initiatives and contribute to wider business projects and improvement programmes.

  • 4-6 years' relevant health and safety experience, preferably within construction or a comparable multi-site environment.

  • Diploma, degree or higher qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.

  • Strong practical knowledge of construction health and safety requirements, risk management and contractor control.

  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessment reviews and incident investigations.

  • Ability to analyse findings, prioritise risk and drive corrective actions through to completion.

  • Strong communication, influencing and report-writing skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices professionally.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously while collaborating effectively with project teams.

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
