Key Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To organise/supervise/perform radiographic/imaging/interventional procedures according to any protocols provided, and to supervise other staff, as appropriate
To assist in the daily operational management of the services
To maintain high standards of patient care, clinical practice and safety
To keep abreast of, and embrace where appropriate, current techniques and developments particularly in relation to specialised imaging modalities.
To assist in the education and training of staff as appropriate, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students and encourage professional development
To adhere to all Health & Safety Guidelines and all Whole Hospital and Department PPGs.
To ensure that Radiation Protection Rules are applied at all times and to be familiar with and comply with National Ionising Radiation Legislation.
To participate in the current out of hours emergency services roster as required
To be observant in relation to equipment faults and errors and to report all defects or occurrences to Radiography Service Manager or deputy.
To participate in all Clinical Audit & Quality Improvement Programmes as required
To attend relevant post-graduate courses and to undertake/assist with research projects
To adhere to the professional guidelines laid down by the Irish Institute of Radiographers
To perform all other duties in the Radiology Department or its satellites deemed appropriate to the grade by the Radiography Service Manager
The post holder may be required, from time to time, to deputise for a Clinical Specialist Radiographer in his/her area of expertise.
