Job Description

Senior R&D Engineer

Responsible for leading and supporting all stages of new product development engineering, from concept generation through to commercialization of innovative medical devices. Works closely with cross-functional teams to develop technically robust solutions that address clinical needs and product requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new medical devices from initial concept phase through design freeze, verification, validation, and commercialization.
  • Lead and support new product development projects across all stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Translate clinical needs and physician feedback into product requirements, concepts, and prototype solutions.
  • Conduct opportunity assessments and develop device concepts from basic clinical needs.
  • Participate in technical innovation activities and contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technological risks throughout the design process.
  • Apply engineering knowledge alongside an understanding of anatomy, physiology, materials, and manufacturing processes to develop effective product designs.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, technology partners, component suppliers, and global stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of technical challenges with existing products and contribute to sustaining engineering activities.
  • Provide technical leadership by directing project activities and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Requirements
  • Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant engineering experience within a medical device environment.
  • Experience supporting product development activities from concept through commercialization.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Six Sigma methodologies, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and structured problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross functional teams and across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience engaging with physicians and translating clinical feedback into device concepts and product requirements is desirable.
  • Strong technical communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
