Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil & Structural Works

Location:London (HQ: Waterloo)

Salary:£80,000 - £90,000

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor with a strong track record in delivering technically complex projects across ground engineering, specialist piling, bridge works, and concrete repair schemes. This is a London-based role with projects across the South East and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering packages from tender to final account
  • Prepare accurate cost plans, budgets, and financial reports for both internal and client use
  • Oversee procurement and tendering activities, ensuring value for money and programme compliance
  • Administer contracts, including management of change, variations, and final accounts
  • Support the delivery teams on commercial and contractual issues, including risk mitigation
  • Produce robust claims documentation and support in negotiations when needed
  • Prepare subcontractor documentation and analyse tender returns, making award recommendations
  • Supervise and guide junior QS staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Support commercial forecasting and reporting including income, liabilities, and cash flows

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar construction-related qualification
  • 8+ years' experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally involving groundworks, structures, and/or specialist works
  • Commercially astute with deep understanding of contract management and procurement strategy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels
  • Member of a professional body (RICS or equivalent) preferred
