Location: Rearsby, onsite 3 days a week, 2 days working from home

Job Purpose:

The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading and delivering all aspects of testing within a business-aligned product team. This is a hands-on, techno-functional role with strong Agile test delivery experience to guide, oversee, and deliver testing activities within a product team.

In this role, the candidate will lead testing efforts, mentor offshore testers as needed, and ensure the delivery of high-quality releases. The candidate will balance leadership ( 25%) with hands-on involvement ( 75%) in test planning, preparation, and execution to drive continuous improvement in Agile testing processes.

This role reports operationally to the Quality Engineering Practice Manager with a dotted line to the Engineering Delivery Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Delivery & Collaboration:

  • Act as a quality advocate within the Product team, working with cross-functional Agile team members to ensure high-quality test deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Delivery Lead on testing activities and promote a shift-left testing approach.
  • Participate in all stages of the Agile SDLC including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Review, Retrospective, test planning, estimation, and refinement.
  • Work with the Practice Manager to improve testing practices and establish metrics such as test coverage, automation coverage, defect density, and leakage.
  • Coordinate with offshore test teams, guiding skill development and collaboration.
  • Understand critical business processes and document knowledge repositories.

Hands-On Testing & Test Automation:

  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases covering functional, integration, and regression scenarios.
  • Maintain and enhance test automation scripts using tools like Katalon Studio.
  • Explore automation opportunities within sprints.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for defects and facilitate resolution.
  • Support acceptance testing and facilitate sprint demos.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to resolve environment and deployment issues.

Performance Objectives:

  • Adapt quickly to the product team and ways of working.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and demonstrate testing contributions.
  • Develop knowledge transition plans with stakeholders.
  • Work with the Practice Manager to enhance testing practices.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Scrum teams, manual testing, and test automation.
  • At least 2-3 years as a Senior Quality Engineer with proficiency in Pega, Katalon, DevOps pipelines, API testing, SQL, and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong soft skills including analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.
  • High proficiency in English.
  • Preferred: experience with Trade Credit business and load/performance testing.
