Job Description
Overview

Software Engineering, Back-end Development

Design, build and scale the backend of a product being used to disrupt and innovate within the telecommunications market.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the team forward with technical leadership and Python expertise.
  • Be agnostic with frameworks, selecting the most appropriate one to solve the problem.
  • Operate in a Kafka-dominated environment with RabbitMQ and ZeroMQ in play.
  • Work with private cloud, on-premises, and bare-metal Kubernetes deployments.
  • Own autonomy around technical decision making and grow into a lead engineering position.
  • Set strategy, drive architecture, and maintain documentation to a high standard.
  • Mentor and upskill colleagues; provide guidance to ensure overall team success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in a startup context with opportunities to tackle diverse challenges.
  • Participate in regular in-person collaboration (at least 3 times per week in the central London office).
  • Be aware the company is exploring advanced technologies including blockchain and crypto-based compensation.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in backend software engineering with Python.
  • Comfort with multiple frameworks and the ability to switch between them as needed.
  • Experience with distributed messaging and streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ).
  • Strong understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies, including private cloud, on-prem, bare metal, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to make autonomous technical decisions and communicate them effectively.
  • Strong collaboration and mentoring skills in a cross-functional startup environment.
